One year ago today, on February 2, 2021, we saw the face of our daughter for the first time. She was wearing a green dress and had the most precious little smile. We instantly knew she was going to be in our family.
A whole year has passed since this precious child has been ours in our hearts. Now, she is, as of January 18th, 2022, legally our daughter as well. She is Ruthanne Vishakha Ramage. She is a daughter. She is loved. She is wanted.
We have spent everyday of the last year praying for her. Praying for her health. Praying to be with her soon. Praying she knows that she is loved so much. Praying for the tough transition she will face leaving all she has ever known to come into our family.
We have had the great privilege of getting to video chat with her regularly over the last year. This isn't very common with international adoptions so we don't take this honor lightly! We are so glad we've gotten the chance to get to know each other, even for just an hour or so a week, over the last year.
I thought I would share a few things we know about our girl!
1. She LOVES babies and baby dolls. She is constantly asking the caregivers to bring the babies over for her to hold, and she is always rocking, feeding, and loving her baby doll.
2. She is independent and doesn't let anything stop her.
3. She thinks sneezing is hilarious and will fake sneeze five times and then laugh and laugh.
4. She is obsessed with our dog. She calls her "bebe" (trying to say Ruby). We wonder when Ruthanne meets her in person if she will be scared when she realizes how big she really is.
So... what's next?
We have gotten our visas and are hoping to travel soon! We are waiting to see when the orphanage will be able to get a passport appointment for her. We were planning to head to India earlier and wait for her passport in country, but then we found out that passport appointments in her city are very backed up and booking 6 weeks out. That would put us being in India for two months or longer because Ruthanne can't leave the country and we can't complete the final immigration steps in New Delhi without her passport. So, we aren't getting to travel as soon as we had hoped and planned, but we are still praying we will be with our girl SOON!
Ways to pray:
1. That we can get an appointment for Ruthanne's passport quickly and not have to wait until the end of March for that.
2. For Cody and I to have wisdom and peace on when to travel. The weight of wanting so badly to be with her, but also needing to have jobs and money to come back to is heavy on us right now.
3. Pray for Ruthanne's heart in this transition and also for her caregivers.
My beautiful little granddaughter 💝 I cannot wait to meet you precious girl. Gran V is praying for timely appointments, and Divine guidance for all officials involved.
